Lydia is One!

Sorry that it has been so long. I have been meaning to get on here to write for quite a while but have not had the time.

Well, my baby girl has turned 1! We had a great weekend with her. On her birthday Dan and I took her to "Sweet Street" which is a Halloween event at ShopKo Hall in Green Bay. We weren't sure how she would like it, but she had a blast! Even though she was too young for most of the activities she loved to just walk around and look at all of the kids dressed up in costumes. We dressed her in her pumpkin costume, and she looked absolutely adorable! Many people at "Sweet Street" kept calling her a little boy, which kind of annoyed me. I guess dressed as a pumpkin and with her lack of hair she could have passed as a little boy. But to us, she is all girl!

On Halloween I dressed her up in her pumpkin suit again and took her to my dad's work to trick or treat to all of the cubicles. Dad really wanted her to come so he could show her off to his co-workers ;) She had lots of fun running around the halls of Fluid Systems. Then after that we came home for nap time, only to get up and put the pumpkin suit back on again! We went trick our treating over in my parents' neighborhood. We made it to about 10 houses. I think Lydia would have kept going, but we were carrying her and our arms were getting tired. Plus, we felt a little greedy since she wasn't the one that would be eating the candy anyway! ;)

Then, on Saturday we had her big birthday party! It was a great day! We had over 30 people come to the party! All of Dan's extended family was able to make it up from Milwaukee, which was made the party extra special! She actually showed some interest in opening her presents. She got a lot of really nice things... lots of cute clothes and really nice books, not to mention some pretty cool toys too! We had a little birthday cake that we put on her high chair tray and let her have at it! She wasn't so sure what to do. She didn't maul it as much as we thought she would. However, once she realized how good it tasted she did take a couple of handfuls of cake. I think she was more amused with the mess she was able to make!

I can't believe Lydia is one year old already. It is so crazy to think back to a year ago at this time. It seems like ever since she turned one I find myself thinking about last year at this time. It is amazing how much she has changed and what a little person she has turned in to. She has such a personality now. Like I said before... when I was pregnant I was so afraid of how my life would change with having a baby. Now that I have her in my life I could not imagine even one day without her in it! I love her so much! Being a mom is seriously the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I am so blessed.

We love the fall!

I can't believe she is almost one year old already! It is hard to believe that last year at this time we were getting ready for her to be born, and now she is this wonderful person who we get to spend every day with! It is crazy how when I was pregnant I had a hard time imagining what my life would be like with a baby, and now I have a hard time remembering what my life was like without her! I love her so much!

Parting is such sweet sorrow

Again, I appoligize that it has been so long since I have written. It seriously is so hard to find the time! But...here I am again. You are probably wondering why I chose the title I did for this post. Well, Pat and Kristen have now made the big move down to South Carolina. We are very excited for them, but yet very sad to see them go. It is going to be quite the change not having them around Green Bay to call up and hang out whenever we want. Plus, Lydia loves them both so much that it is going to be sad for her not to have her uncle and aunt around. But, like I said, we are excited for them! And, we are already in the works of planning a spring break trip down to South Carolina. Kristen and I have already begun talking about what will will do while we are there. It will be nice to get away from the Wisconsin cold in March! We are also hoping to be able to visit with Amanda, one of my best friends from high school, her husband Scott, and their little boy Liam while we are down there.

In other news...the Twin Cities 10 mile went really well! It was a fun weekend. I finished the race in an hour and 21 minutes. My goal was under 1:30 so I succeeded! Now Stacy and I are contemplating the possibility of running a full marathon in the spring. We will see!! I am not quite sure I can handle that!

I am in the works of planning Lydia's first birthday party. I am so excited! I am debating telling everyone to dress up in Halloween costumes. I am not sure how that will go over among the less Halloween obsessed people, but I LOVE Halloween and want to live it up. So, we will see. Chad said he thinks people would be okay with it, and if Chad says people will be then they probably will be because he is grumpy about everything! ha ha! Just kidding Chad... I love you! :) I got the invitations out and now am just waiting for RSVPs. It should be a fun time! I can't believe she is almost 1 already!

Family picture in Dan's parents' backyard at Pat and Kristen's wedding rehearsal

Sorry I haven't written in so long! Time just seems to get away from me! A lot has happened since my last post. I will summarize, so as not to go on for pages and pages! On September 13th Dan's brother Pat got married. Dan and I both stood up in the wedding and Lydia was a flower girl. She got pulled down the aisle in a wagon with Kristen's (the bride) nephew. She did such a good job, and was adorable of course! That night we got a babysitter, Megan's sister Lindsay, for the first time ever! Everything went well though, and it was nice to be able to enjoy the wedding reception without having to worry about Lydia. My whole family was at the wedding too, which was super fun because I got to hang out with both sides of the family at once!

This upcoming weekend I am going to be running in the twin cities 10 mile with my cousin Stacy. I am nervous, but very excited! I have been training really hard so I hope to do well. Stacy says how amazing the scenery is, so I am really looking forward to the whole experience. Ryan and Brent Boerboom are also coming to cheer me on along with Dan and Lydia of course! It should be a fun weekend! I will write again to let you know how it all goes. Until next time... :)

I'll give this blogging this a try...

It seems like many people I know have started up blogs, so I thought that I would give it a try. It seems like a fun idea, plus it will be a way that I can share the little happenings in our lives with those who I don't see very often. (which is many people, being all of my extended family lives in Minnesota!) Every day is something new with us, as we are enjoying watching Lydia grow! She is so amazing, and I am cherishing every minute with her because I know she will only stay this young for a short while.
Now that I am back to work :( I have less time to spend with her. I LOVED having my summer off with her. As you can see from the pictures we had a lot of fun! We kept very busy. I went for many runs with her in the stroller and Maggie in the basket underneath! We also spent a lot of time in the water, either on Shawano Lake at my parents' cabin, the kiddie pool in the back yard, or at the wading pool with my friend Nicole and her son Brady. She is definitely a swimmer like her mom and dad, which makes Dan and I very happy!
We are so lucky that we have such good people to watch her while we are at work though. Dan's mom is watching her on Mondays and Tuesdays, my mom is watching her on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Nicole is watching her on Fridays. She has fun with all of them, so I don't worry about her while I am at work... I just miss her!
I am going to end this for tonight because I have got to head to bed. We went to the Brewer game today, and sitting in the sun all day took a lot out of me!
Until next time... :)
